A communique states:— Despite repeated German attacks, we occupied positions on the left bank of the western Dvina, northward of Dvinsk. A communique says:—We repelled attacks on the river N&raiuvka, in the direction of Hnlicz. Stubborn fighting continues. The Russians in the Carpathians, south of Baranov, carried a series of heights. An official message says that a committee is discussing a scheme to establish direct railway and steamship communication between Russia, Sweden and England.
