LOCAL -INVESTMENTS. SALES OE CERTIFICATES BRISK. Yesterday was the last day for the Sale of War Loan bonds, but the solo of' the certificates will ho continued until further notice. At the Christchurch Post Office yesterday a very busy day was experienced, many Savings Bank accounts being drawn on. for the purchase of loan certificates, tho sale of which for the day reached a most satisfactory total. Both £1 and £lO certificates are popular. On two occasions this week Christchurch headed the list of centres in the Dominion as far as business done was concerned. The Addington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants hiis decided to invest £IOO of its funds in tho War Loan, through tho Executive- Council, which has already invested £IOOO of the general funds. WELLINGTON INVESTMENTS.* [Pita Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 1. The- issue of War Loan bonds closed to-day, but pending receipt of details libln other centres the treasury will be unable, to give any idea of the total subscriptions before next week. Meantime the issue of certificates for small investments through tho Post Office continues satisfactorily. Yest ifday’s' total was £II,OOO, and to-day Wellington put up a rcoord with £10,250.
