GENERAL COMMITTEE. Tho General Committee of the Ellesmere Agricultural and Pastoral Association met nt Lcoston on Thursday, Mr A. J. Inwocd (past president) presiding in the absence of the president and vice-president. There tvr3 a.iair attendance. Tho Canterbury Jockey Club wrote, slating that it would give special prizes on the same conditions as last year. It was agreed that the planting of shelter treos on tho south side of '.'ho show grounds should bo allowed to s:and over for a year, the ground to bo prepared in the meantime; also that stops should bo taken to prevent pigs breaking into the show grounds and doing damage. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs TV. G. Lunn and TV. O. Ronn’3 was- set up to inspect tho show grounds at regular intervals. A letter was received from the Special Committee set up by the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association to deal with the appeal for assistance for tho ruined farmers in Belgium, and Mr Henry Ovcruon, chairman of the committee, wrote to tho prosidout on the same subject, urging him to make every effort to collect subscriptions on behalf of'the fund. Members were invited to take subscription books and assist with the canvassing. The president, vice-president, . eocrotaj'y and Mr TV. G. Lunn were api>oinled a subcommittee to deal with tenders for show | privileges.
