A VISIT FROM NIPPON.

JAPANESE WARSHIPS IN AUSTRALIA.

[From Our ; Correspondent.] SYDNEY, June 22. Some of our Allies from Yokohama are paying us another visit. It seems only a day or two since they were here in large numbers before. This time they are equally numerous and arrived in the cruisers lwa.te and Azuma. These vessels, in charge of Admiral Matsuimira, are on a training cruise, there being a considerable complement of young officers aboard and very spick and span the ships look at ‘incbor ill Farm Cove, where in what now seems the long ago our own Australia and Sydney' and Melbourne were often to be seen. Of course the Admiral has been honoured at meals and receptions,.. and the Government has shown considerable attention to the crew. It is very interesting to watch the men ashore’. They are exceedingly well behaved and wander about in groups apparently taking a vast interest m everything they see. One noticeable thing about them is their great cleanltno4s and doilies. Tho officers are really immaculate in tailoring arid the crew appear to dress with equal care. ' The Admiral speaks English with easy fluency. Ho is an officer oi lngli distinction ’in the Japanese service. He was in command of a vessel at Port Arthur and was second in command of Toco’s flagship nt Tsushima. In Jus public utterances here lie has beev. paiticulaily positive about the good relations existing between Australia and Japan, and the certainly of these becoming even more cordial. Of course there is in all this more than meets the ewe. Tho relations between the two countries cannot by any stretch of imncination be considered to have in the past been without a flaw. There was much misunderstanding. This will in all probability bo removed. The old Australian attitude cannot possibly Do maintained and it is not likely 'that roanv people could now ho found who desire that it should. The .Tap has arrived in the world and is not going to be humiliated merely because of his race.
