RUSSIAN THRUST. IN MANY SECTORS. By Telegraph—PreßS Association—Copyright PETROGRAD, June 26. A communique says:— The enemy offensive east of Gorodishche, nty miles south-east of Novogrodek and north of Baranovitehi was repulsed. We also repulsed an attack five versts south-west of Lipsk, twentyfive miles south of Baronovitchi. Tire Germans from Kolki to the Sokul bombarded, carrying out several local offensives, but all were repulsed. We drove off repeated massed attacks at Linevka, on the Stokhod. Don Cossacks crossed the Styr south of Buczacz, overthrew the enemy’s advance guard, and occupied two villages. Cavalry occupied positions near Pozoretta, about seven miles west of Kimpolung. We approached the passes leading to Transylvania. GERMANS REINFORCED. TROOPS FROM THE WEST. PETROGRAD, June 27. The Russians on the Kovel front advanced forty-eight miles in ten days, until the rapidly increasing enemy iormations compelled them to slow down They were foroed to defend themselves against attacks by superior numbers, including the Tenth Prussian Corps from Rheiras, the Fifth Bavarian Corps ironr Arras and ether troops from Laon and Verdun. Prisoners state that the Kaiser said that he intended to send seven German corps to Kovel, if necessary, to retake Lutsk. RUSSIANS STILL ADVANCING. RUMANIANS FAVOURED IN BUKOWINA. Tho High Commissioner reports LONDON, June 26. The Russians have penetrated Transylvania. A Rumanian citizen has been appointed Mayor of Czernowitz and other Rumanians have been appointed Mayors of other Bukowina towns. Tho Russians are favouring the Rumanians ENEMY REPORTS. AMSTERDAM, June 26. A German communique says:— Fighting, in wnick.we were successful, is proceeding westward of Sokm and near- Zaturce. (Received June 27, p.m.) LONDON) June 26. “The Times” correspondent at Bucharest says that thousands of _ Bunowma inhabitants are arriving in Rumania, including Austrian officials and civilians in greatest distress. Refugees state that tho Austrians expect as reinforcements one German and two Jiulgar army corps.
