LAST CHANCE FOR SLACKERS

'The Federal Statistician reports that there are 452,618 fit men in the Commonwealth between tho ages of eighteen and forty-four who have not enlisted or, if they have enlisted, have not yet gone into camp. A last chance will be given those who failed to return a census card, and if this chance is neglected prosecutions will follow. COALINC CORPS. WILL START ON JULY 1. MELBOURNE, June 27. The Coaling Corps formed in April will commence operations on July 1.
Tho agreement provides that under no circumstances shall work cease or a strike extend to the battalion while it is engaged on a naval vessel, and gives the Navv Department first call on the labour of each member. Union officials are given honorary ranks in the Naval Reserve. FIREMEN ON STRIKE. NAVAL RESERVISTS PLACED ON SHIPS. (Received Juno 27, 11.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Juno 27. Mr Jenson, Minister of tho Navy, did not accede to the demand of the Seamen’s Union to pay firemen ou ships overtime rates for dumping ashes, and tho crew were withdrawn. Mr Jensen immediately replaced them with Naval Reservists, and the ships sailed. THE WHEAT POOL. BOARD’S DECISION. (Received June 27, 11.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE. June 27. The Wheat Board has decided to wind up the wheat pool at the end of September, and to form another pool to deal with the next season’s crop. AUSTRALIAN CASUALTIES. SYDNEY, June 27.
