HAMPSHIRE SUNK BY MINE.
ADMIRALTY ABANDONS ALL HOPE OF FURTHER
SURVIVORS FROM CRUISER.

The Admiralty announces that the Hampshire was sunk by a mine Two destroyers acting as an escort had to leave the vessel at 7 p.nj. owing to the heavy seas and the vessel was .truck shortly before 8 o'clock. A search was made promptly, but no further trace of the ship's boats has been found. All hope of further rescues has been abandoned. A report states that Lord Kitchener and staff got clear of the stricken cruiser, but that the boats were Overwhelmed in the big seas. . . ~ Memorial services were held yesterday throughout the Dominion. f
