FARMERS’ UNION.
SCARGILL. A meeting of tho Scargill branch of the Farmers’ Union was held on Friday. Mr Leach moved that the secretary write .to the Director of the Fields Division with a view to getting him to- visit the district and deliver a lecture on lime and how to use it, with any other matters of interest to farmers. The motion was seconded by Mr Jones and carried. ... Mr Pannett moved —“ That it is the opinion of the members present t’'at this branch of the Farmers’ Union should bo closed.” The motion was seconded by Mr Leach and carried. A vote of thanks was accorded the secretary.
SPRIKGSTON. The annual meeting of the Springsten branch of ‘he Now Zealand Farmers’ Union was hold in t v e hall on Friday evoning. There was a fair attendance. Mr I. Andrew was c'ectetl president. MY M. F. Rvan vice-president, Ate J. W. Kteio secretary and treasurer, t.’d Mr T. J. Henlev delegate to tho annual conference. A large and representative general committee was also elected. _ ' I* was decided to submit the following remits to the annual conference:—(ll That better facilities he afforded for the disposal of frozen meat on the London market, w'th the object of reducing the cost of such disposal at 4 he Home end, which cost appealed to the branch as being unnecessarily; high; (21 that the rural postal delivery, which had been so successfully inaugurated in some districts be extended. Tho proposed Fill respecting stallions came in for some adverse criticism, and a motion of protest was carried. Votes of thanks were accorded the retiring officers.
