It is reported that General Townsliend and four generals of his staff have been taken to Bagdad, whither other captured men are being gradually transferred.

LONDON, May 9. Sir Edward Grey asked the United States Government to obtain from its Embassy at Constantinople information as to tie present situation and circumstances of General Townshends force, and the means by which medical stores may be despatched to it.
