ST ALBAN'S RED CROSS CARNIVAL.
The general « committee of the St Albans Red Cross Carnival met on Monday evening, Mr J. tV. Beanland presiding over an at-tendance-of about one hundred and - fifty.
The chairman of each sub-committee reported on tile .work under his care..: the reports being considered, very satisfactory. ; The secretary reported that, all" arrangements ’■ in connection with Mr Alpe’s. walk were .in ! hand. All details were complete'in’*connec-j tion with the Governor's visit-.-' V'. 1 • 1 * .It was decided that the seven Queens should wail upon the Governor at afternoon tea. r
A vote of thanks was passed to the Young Men’s Guild for the- use of-their room,- also for the use of a piano for the tea tent. The secretary .stilted that the Citizens’. Defence Corps’ and Lyttelton Marine Bands would he in attendance. Mr Poison’s offer of signwriting was accepted with thanks. It was decided to ask Mrs Cotton to bo iudso of the cooking competition./)' * ; . An offer was maefo by Miss 'Colton, who had made the badges for the committee, that she would not. charge for tho ribbon it the stall holders would pay threepence each for them. On the motion being put to tho meeting if was decided to buy the badges and to place the money to the Red Dross Fund.
