BEFORE SALONIKA. CONTINGENT OF COLONIALS. ALLIED OFFENSIVE POSSIBLE. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. LONDON, February 22. A Salonika telegram stating that tho latest reinforcements included a magnificent body of colonials has greatly interested Londoners, who are also awaiting- news of the inclusion of a party of the popular Anzacs who took part iii the expedition against the Arabs in the west of Egypt at the end of January.
Tho possibility of a great Allied offensive from Salonika is becoming clearer. Tho Bulgarians and Germans are strengthening their entrenchments on the Greek frontier, and have apparently postponed the idea of storming Salonika.
INSPECTION OF FORTS. GREEK GENERALS ASTONISHED. LONDON, February 22. The “ Daily Chronicle’s ” Salonika correspondent says that, at the invitation of General Sarrail, Greek generals inspected the Allied fortifications at Salonika, and were astonished at the. strength of the forts. Tho Gveckc agreed that- tho enemy would need to attack in great force and with formidable artillery. Deserters state that there is a serious famine in Monastir.
KING OF SERBIA. RECOVERING RAPIDLY. ATHENS, February 22. The King of Serbia, who is taking sulphur baths at Edepsos, is rapidly recovering, and looking many years younger. He is delighted at the nrospoct of soon being fit and again leading his army. /
