NEWSPAPER PROPRIETORSASSOCIATION.
_*. [Per Press Association.] ROTORUA, February 22. At the annual meeting of the Newspaper Proprietors' Association Mr Selig presided over a large attendance from/all parts of the Dominion. Tlie meeting passed votes of appreciation of the action of newspaper employees who went to the front and sympathy with the" relatives of those who have fallen.
The president's address referred at length.to' the difficulties in. connection with supplies of paper, emphasising the seriousness of the position, to the question of extra freight on papers and increased charges for Press telegrams. Regarding paper it. was pointed out that many offices were short of supplies and the position was becoming more acute daily. A very heavy agenda paper was gone through* It was decided to consider the question of paper, supplies at a special meeting on Wednesday evening. Mr Selig wfts re-elected president. Mr F. E. Hyman vice-president, and Mr J. S. Berry secretary and treasuier, A vote of thanks was passed for the hospitality shown to the association's delegates at the World's Press Congress at San Francisco. It was decided to invite members of the Press Congress at Sydney in 1918 to visit New" Zealand and request the Government to grant them facilities to travel in the Dominion.
