France officially contradicts the German assertions of a widespread plot to restore Madagascar's independence and to mnssacr? the white population. The truth is that, a small body rioted, but tile Governor suppressed the outbreak and impressed the gieat majority of the, natives, who are loyal to tlie Government.
NEW ZEALANDERS.
RETURNING MEN AT CAPE TOWN
(Received February 21, 9.15 p.m.) CAPE TOWN, February 20. The Mayor entertained 125 New Zealanders returning on the Arawa. Thare was a lavish programme of festivities. The men have greatly benefited from the voyage.
