FLAG DAY.
NAVY LEAGUE’S EFFORT. A meeting of the Navy League Flag Day Women’s Committee which organised the appeal for Lord Charles Beresford's Fund for Naval Hospitals, Hospital Ships, etc., on October 22, was e ]d yesterday afternoon, Mrs T. G-. R. Blunt presiding. • Tho balance-sheet showed that the receipts amounted to £636 16s 2d, the principal items being street sales of badges £550 17s Bd, donations and private" sales of badges and flags to schools and others £72 4s 6tl, and proceeds of play (“The Rivals’ ) by Miss h Cowan’s company £8 Is. The expenditure was £lls 7s. of which £4O Is 3d was paid for printing and flag Vinrleos. The balance amounted to £521 o- oil, and of that sum £SOO had been 'Emitted to London. In addition there stocks in band which when sold elm,lid increase the fund by over £2O. The balance-sheet was adopted Letters were received from London, expressing high appreciation of the Christchurch effort. Tt was decided to advertise a general ,mte of thanks to all helpers and to the public- who had contributed so generously.
