QUEEN ELECTION.
PROFESSIONS AND COMMERCE LEADING. TOTAL VOTES, 1,220,800. Between noon of Wednesday and yesterday 48,000 votes were registered on behalf "of candidates in. the Queen election, making a total of 1,220,800 votes to date, representing £15,260.
The position of the Queens changed slightly yesterday. No. s—Professions and Commerce—has displaced No B. West and Suburbs—for first place. The positions at noon yesterday were as follow: No. s—Professions and Commerce (Mrs G. G. Stead). No. B—West and Suburbs (Mrs John Deans). No.' 7—Wholesale ami Retail (Miss Clifford).. No. 6-Hills.
No. 3—Public Services (Mrs J. C Pfj | "-j No. 4—Soldiers (Mrs G. Rhodes). No. I—lndustries (Mrs W. Hill).
WHOLESALE AND RETAIL GROUP. DONATION OE £SOO. The honorary secretary of the Wholesale Section of the Wholesale and Retail Group'has been advised by Mr Ci-opp, manager of Messrs T. J. Edmonds, Limited, the. well-known baking powder m.anuiactiK'CV:’, that at a inflating cf shareholders held on Tuesday it was unanimously resolved to assist the candidature of Miss Clifford, ami a resolution was passed donating the sum of £SOO.
SOLDIERS’ GROUP.
NURSES’ SECTION. A promenade concert will be given in Lyttelton this evening in aid of the Nurses’ section of the Soldiers’ Group. An excellent programme has been arranged, and a number of leading Christchurch artists will take part.
