Merrett and Co. report a large entry of poultry on Saturday, prices being well maintained. Through the presence of the moult and the dear feed hens are coming in freelv. Table chickens realised 5s 6d to 9s 2d, hens 2s to 4s lOd, ducks 4s 6d to 7s Bd, pullets 3s to 8s (VI. geese 6s to Bs, all at per pair. EGGS. Eggs are in good supply and equal to the demand. On Saturday Canterbury Egg Circle first grades realised Is sd, seconds Is 3d to Is 4d. country store eggs Is 2d to Is 3d per dozen. COALGATE. At the monthly sale at Coalgato on Friday a moderate entry was yarded. Lxport buyers were present, and all fats met with keen inquiry. Fat lambs realised from 1/s 6(1 to 22s 4d and fat ewes from 18s to .0s 4d. A sma.ll entry of Btores a!*o so.d well. Forward four-tooth wethers brought. 19s lCcf. six-tooth cross-bred ewes 16s 10d. Jinall Down cross two-tooth wethers lis 2d and ditto ewes Ms 4d. A small number of oat tie met with little demand and were mostly passed. NORTH OTAGO. [From Ot:n CoimEsrosPFA'T.] OAMARU, January 29. No business has been done in the groin market this week, millers terns' evidently content, to wait until values reach a settled basis. So far only a small amount of threshing ha s been done, and few samples of new wheat have reached the market. These, having regard to the dry season, are deemed good, though some of the berry is rather pinched. The best quotations net at country stations are 5s 6d for velvet, and from os, 3d to 5s 4d for red varieties. No samples of oat., are yet forward. EXPORT OF WOOL. DEPUTATION TO PRIME MINISTER. [Pkr Pkf.rs Association*.] WELLINGTON, January 29. , A deputation of wool brokers interviewed, the Prime Minister to-day in regard to the wool situation and the prospects of getting vessels to take bales away. The interview was private. Subsequently the Prime Minister stated that, the situation was greatly improving compared with the previous year. A 'certain amount of delay was unavoidable owing to two reasons, viz., the far. that the season had been later than usual, and the scarcity of ship s for general cargo, but things were improving. No further information said the Prime Minister, had come to hand with regard to wool puichassd for the United States in the early part of the season. Ho had again cabled to the Imperial authorities asking for a reply at 'he earhest possible i date.
