BROKEN HILL TROUBLE
REFUSAL TO ARBITRATE.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. SYDNEY, January 27. Mr Justice Higgins has refused a quest to arbitrate in the Broken Hill labour dispute. STRIKERS ASK FOR HELP. The Barrier Strike Committee, is appealing to American,,South African and English uuions for immediate assistance. (Received January 28, 12.35 a.m.) MELBOURNE, January 27. Mr G. F. Pearce, Minister of Defence, declined a Labour deputation's request that he should intervene in the Broken Hill strike'.

The Cabinet decided to gra.nt permits provided, the applicants satisfy the . authorities that th-jy <lo not intend to become permanent residents in the Dominion.
