•WELLINGTON, December J 3. A deputation of waterside workers interviewed the Minister of Marine, Or M'Nab, to-day. and pointed out. that tho employment of naked lights in ships' holds was detrimental to tho men's healths owing to the fumes. They also asked that more effective inspection should' be given ships' and _ coal hulks, overhead gear, that a maximum be fixed regarding tho weight each ship's winch is allowed to lift, that more time be given for putting on ships' hatches at night, and that nets be placed under open hatches to prevent loss of life,. The Minister promised to go into tho matters beforo him immediately.
