A letter was read from the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association stating that it was deemed inadvisable, considering the present circumstances, to make any further genera) appeals for money for the I\ ilding Memorial. The letter suggested that each association should act in the matter as it deemed fit. The grounds conuuiltoe, which was set up for the purpose of formulating a scheme to acquire land for courts where tennis tournaments and inter-club matches could be played, presented its report. It stated that last rear .MAO had been promised and that a block of land in Avcnside had been inspected. The land was leasehold, and it was thought advisable to obtain an offer of a freehold section also. With this end in view, an advertisement was inserted in the newspapers with the result that forty ies were received. Thirty-three sites were inspected, but only seven or eight were deemed to be suitab’e, and the prices of all were considered beyond the present funds of the association.
