John Tucker has been sentenced to death tor the murder of his wife and her brother at Stanmore on June 13. A plea.of insanity failed. SYDNEY. December 9. * Tn the selection of-the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Alderman Hogan and Aldern\an- Richard .Meagher, the only two candidates, tied. The meeting was adjourned for n week in order to obtain a, legal opinion- as- to the position. Prior to the election,'the council, on Alderman Gunter’s- motion, decided to reduce tile Lord Mayor s allowance from £ISOO to £IOOO.
