MINISTER APPEALS FOR FUNDS. I [Per Press Association.] f •' * WELLINGTON, November 9. The'-Defence Minister stated to-night that he would be glad to receive through the Under-Secretary for Inter-nal-Affairs further contributions for the purchase of comforts for sick and wounded fNew Zealanders in England and elsewhere. He had no funds in hand fori that purpose at the present time, though there was still a balance in the hands of the High Commissioner. Tin money was used to buy cigarettes, tobacco, stationery, shaving gear, etc., ojer and above the Government's provisions. • . Colonel Esson-had telegraphed-from Malta:—"Red Cross arrangements for sick and wounded here arc c: llent. Present .programme similar to.ours in Egypt."
