PERSONAL NOTES. THE FALLEN AND MISSING. Mr T. E. Loach, of 203, Papa uni Road, Bt Albans, has been officially advised that his second sen, Privato George Wallace Loach, of the AVellington Battalion, who was reported missing on August 8, is now believed to have been killed. Both the Prime Aiinistor and the Aliuister of Defence in their telegram., to Mr Loach express the hope that ho may receive more satisfactory nows soon. Private Loach, who is twenty-seven years of age, was hern in {Sydney and arrived in Now Zealand when five veers old. Ho was educated at tho Waimato District High School, and was for a timo in the Wairante Rifles. For the past seven years ho had been living in Napier and Hastings, where he was also in the Napier* R iles. Privato Loach was organist, in churches in Wainintc and Hastings. Ho was very popular in Hastings, where, previous to enlisting in tho Main Expeditionary Force, he was engaged with a younger brother in a plumbing, business. Private Loach is' a brother of Licutennnl* Colonel A. E. Loach, of tho Canterbury Battalion, who was badly wounded and is now on his way home.
Private Clarence Kiniber Duggan (Wellington Battalion), previously reported missing, now believed to have been killed, is the youngest eon of the late Air George Duggan and Airs Lucy Duggan, 240. Cashel Street, Christchurch. He was born in Christchurch twenty-three, years ago, and educated at the Woolston School. For a. time ho was in tho employ of Alessrs Strange and Co., in this city. Then he went to the North Island, and at the time he enlisted with the Fourth Reinforcements was working at Wanganui, '
A Press Association message from Napier says that Sergeant Albert Joseph Downing, reported killed in the Dardanelles, was a noted ltngby player, who went to Australia and to America.
Private G. Gunn (Wellington Battalion). reported as missing and probably killed, is the eldest of three sons of the late Air WTiam Gunn, and a brother of Airs D. Hyland, wife of Sergeant Hyland, of flic Christchurch police force.. Ho was born in Hyde, Central Otago, thirty-five years ago and was educated in the Arthur Street School, Dunedin. Prior to enlisting with the Fourth Reinforcements he had been a resident of tho Mnnawatu district for many years, and he was widely and popularly known there, principally in football circles. A younger brother of his is also at the Dardanelles, having left with the Second Reinforcements.

Private A. E. AYr.rd, who was killed in cc’ion on August 7, enl’sted with the Fourth Reinforcements. Ho was tho fourth •■•on of Air E. W. Ward, of Auckland, was barn, in Auckland and rriuer.ted at the Avondale Public School. He was twenty-e'ght yoars of age ami was highly respected by a large• c're’a of f-derje. Private B. It. Turner (Canterbury Battal on), who has been killed in action, was born in England, and was twenty-six years old. "He arrived in Christchurch a little over three years ago, and joined tho permanent staff of the Christchurch Fire ,Brigade. Slcdman (Canterbury mountad), who has been wounded, is the second son of Air A. Stednan, manager of the Cliristcliureh branch of tho Bank of New South Vale-, and is twenty years old. He was born in Timaru, and was educated at Christ’s College and L’nooln College.' He was a- fitud'-nt at Lincoln CoPoge when lio enlisted in the Thi-d Reinforcements. A.i elder brother, Conioral G. Stnrj. ir.au, was recently awarded tho Distinguished Conduct Medal.
Corporal Alfred Christian Bennett (Canterb.ry Battalion), wounded on Avgust 7, is a sou of Airs Emily Bennett, care Airs Leahy, 27. Rolloston Street, Linwood. Ho joined UlO First Reinforcements and belonged to the SGir of Linwoed Lodge Miniature Rifle Club, and the St John Ambulance' Association, and for ninny years was also associated with tho firo brigade.
Mrs William Grace, of 458. Madras Street, has received a message to the effect that 4-480, Sapper Charles Henry Grace, disembarked at Malta, from the hospital ship Ascaira on August 25, slightly sick. Battalion, nmehiue gun section), severely wounded in tho head and in lio pjal at Malta, is tho eldest son of Air F. J- Dunn, jeweller, Timaru. He ,wns educated at Christchurch School, Alain School, T’ima.'u, and the Tiirnru.H'fvh School. He matriculated after leaving school, and was studying , for accountancy when the wai broke out, and ho immediately enlisted with the Alii’ii Force. Ho was a keen swimmer anti hockey player, and was employed in tho office >0 f tlie Farmers’ Co-operativo Association in Timaru.
