EASTERN COUNTIES BOMBED.
WOMEN AND CHILDREN KILLED • AND WOUNDED. LONDON, September 8. If, is officially reported that three! Zeppelins visited the eastern counties last night and dropped bombs. Bedsides the destruction of fifteen small dwellings, many doors and windows were broken, and several fires broke out, but were promptly extinguished. No other serious damage was done. Two men, three women and five children were killed, and _ four men, eleven women and five children were seriously wounded. Nine men, five women and nine children were slightly wounded, and one man and two women are missing. It is believed that thev were buried in the debris. The total casualties are fifty-six. AH are civilians except one, a soldier, who is reported seriously wounded. - REPORTED FROM HOLLAND. LONDON, September 8. The Amsterdam correspondent of tne Central News reports that three Zeppelins were seen flying westward this afternoon. THE INGENDIARiSTS. LONDON DISTRICT BOMBED. (Received September 9, 5.10 p.m.) LONDON, September 9. Tho Press Bureau states:— Ai’-craft dropped incendiary explosive bombs in a Loudon district last night. There wei'e few casualties. (Received September 9, 7.30 p.m.) ROTTERDAM, September 9. Three Zeppelins, believed to he those which raided England, hovered for two hours on morning of (September 4 over Amsterdam. The sentries fired on hut did not hit tho airships, which came low enough to enable observers to count twenty of a crew. They departed hurriedly. It is believed" that they lost their hearings in a mist. Holland is perturbed at the violation of neutrality. REPRISALS. ENEMY WORKS ATTACKED. BOMBS DROPPED AT METZ. (Received September 9, 9.5 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, September 9. German reports state that the air raid on Saar brack had terrible results. The military quarters and railway station were blown up, and seven-ty-five were killed. The majority were soldiers. The authorities ordered strict secreoy regarding tho results of tho raid. •
