The annual report of the Education Department shows the total number of scholars as 277,392, an increase of 11,350, 52 per cent of which is in the metropolitan schools. ...' 'i ' The figures disclose, that the population of the State is becoming nio.ro concentrated' in the towns, as 93J per cent of the inorease came from the 627 larger schools, the remaining 6& pet cent being distributed over 2631 small school?.
During the year 94,198 pupils wera medically examined, and 57.283 were found to lie. suffering from ailments requiring attention. %
