NORTH CANTERBURY FREEZING COMPANY.

MEETING OF DIRECTORS. WORKS TO BE ERECTED AT AT KAIAPOI. At a- meeting of the directors of the North Canterbury SheepfarmeiV Cooperative Freezing Company, held on Wednesday, Messrs J. H. Blackwell, F. Parnham and M'lntosh, representing the Kaiapoi Committee, waited on the board. Mr Blackwell stated that his com- ! mittee had been able to obtain a concession in the price of the laud over wn.ch options were held, and it now 11 offered to provide share capital amounting to £20,0U0, provided the company was prepared to co-operate with it and buikl freezing works at Kaiapoi. , At this stage a conference was held with' the directors of the Canterbury Frozen Moat Company, but no satisfactory arrangement with regard to amalgamation between the two companies was arrived at. It was decidod to accept the Kaiapoi committee's offer, and to take immediate steps to acquire the thirty acres of land offered' as a site for the works. Tie chairman (Mr G. D. Greenwood) stated that by co-operating with Kaiapoi supporters the company would secure the nei.-csMiry amount oi capital to start buildings, ami it was in the interest of nil the shareholders that the works should, if possible, bo available , for them for next season, Tho board'fa programme also included tho erection of a factory ut Waipara, where a valuable site had been applied for, but no- • cesrsnrily the Waipara scheme could hot be parried out simultaneously with the ' Kaiapoi project, and the board would have to hold it over for tho present. [ A letter was received from Mr W. A. Rows©, honorary secretary of the I Rangiora Farmers' Committee, statins.-; that at a representative meeting of those interested in the erection of freezing works at Rangiora., held on July 23, it was decided iv ask the directors of the company whether they would consider the bcat'on of freezing works and meet a deputation j'rom Rangiora to discuss the matter.
