A communique states:— In reprisal for the bombardment of Fumes and Dunkirk we bombarded the German cantonments at Weptende and Middlekerke (Belgium). In the Vosges wei extended and consolidated the ground captured on the crest of Lingekopf, and occupied the pass between the Linge and the quarries. Three counter-attacks were repulsed. GERMAN REPORT. AEROPLANE CAPTURED. AMSTERDAM, July 27. A German official report states: — “We compelled a French aeroplane to descend north-west of Turcoing. We captured a British aeroplane and aviators near Peronne. The enemy captured our advanced trenches at Lingekopf.” SUCCESS IN VOSGES. FRENCH CAPTURE HEIGHTS. Received July 28, 8.30 p.m.) PARIS, July 28. The following official report has been issued:— There was an intense cannonade in the Souchez sector. Arras was twice bombarded. A fire broke out, but was extinguished. One civilian was killed. We completed the conquests of the Lingekopf and Barrenkopf, dominating the principal valley of the Fecht, also the main road to Notre Dame de St Rossepis. We took several Intndred prisoners.
