KAIAPOI FETE.
TUB QUEEN OF THE CARNIVAL. The Kniapoi Queen of tho Carnival contest increases in interest os tho date of the election approaches. At the end of last week Miss .Merrill (No. 5) had replaced Miss Rehu (No. 1) in third place on the list, otherwise the positions were unchanged. The present positions of tho candidates are:— 1— No. 2, Miss K. Wells (Kniapoi North). 2 No. 3, Miss F. E. Evans (Kaiapoi South). 3 No. 6. Miss T. Merrin (Eyre County). 4 No. 1, Miss Ettie Rehu (Tuahiwi, Woodend and Wnikuku). 5 No. 4. Miss Polly Mortland (Eyr# County) A concert \\ as hold in tho Marsh* land Hall on Friday evening to augment the funds of the “ Rebel Queen, Miss T. Merrin. A good musical programme was provided. During the evening a flag was auctioned by Mi* A. F. Cade, of Christchurch, and after being sold anil resold was finally bought bv Mr W. Merrin, of Coutt’s Island, for £l7.
