ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Christchurch Orchestral Society was held in the Chamber of Commerce last night, the president, Mr H. 11. Loughnan, being in the chair. In tho report the committee congratulated members on tno position which the society had attained during the past sesison. The repertoire of the orchestra had been very much enlarged and the concerts of the society had been most successful. Tho concerts given during the season amounted to the unprecedented number of fourteen, including four subscription concerts, one Mischa Elmau concert and three in aid of the Belgian Fund. The committee recommended that the number of subscription concerts should be reduced to three. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £l3 14s 9ci.
The report and balance-sheet was adopted. Tho following officers were elected:— Patron, His Excellency the Governor; president, Mr H. H. Loughnan; vicepresidents. Mrs George Rhodes, and Messrs F. C. Raphael, George Bouuingtou, D. Sinclair, 11. A. Home and J. M. Mitchell; committee, Messrs S. A.. Orchard. J. Balfour, T. W. Dent, 0. H. Schmidt. A. H. Noali and W. Lunham; secretary, and treasurer, MiErnest Jamiesonj. auditor, Mr L. Ij. Oordevv, F.1.A.N.Z., F.C.P.A ; librarian. Mr Alfred Lawrence; leader-of the orchestra.. Mrs Roy Twyneltam: conductor, Mr Walter Handel Thorley.
