NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. The fif;h annual tournament of the Canterbury Cro:;uet Association was commenced on Saturday on the United Croquet Club's grounds at Hagley Park in fine weather, uur.ng tho tournament tho Mew Zealand championships will be decided, the New Zealand Open Championship,, the New Zealand Lad.es' Open Championship and the New Zealand Doubles being started to-day. The Canterbu y contests are the Championship, the Ladies' Championship, the Club Pairs, and the Handicap. The entries for each contest were large, and in many of the games some very good performances were registered. The fo.lowing are the results on tho day's play:— ■ CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP.
