+. . (Pee Press Association.] PAHIATUA, December 26. The official opening of the new people's park on Hall's Estate, near the town, took place to-day. A picnic and sports were held, in fine weather. There was a large attendance. The area is over fifteen acres, and 1 the greater portion is beautiful native bush. The land cost £BOO, and the Government granted a subsidy. Speeches were made by Mr Escott, M.P., and Mr Bancke, late president of the Progressive Association.
