GERMAN BRIBE TO SWEDEN. THE SCANDINAVIAN CONFERENCE. By Tt!“graph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, Decembor 22. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Copenhagen correspondent says that Germany proposed to. cede certain Baltic islands to Sweden and help Sweden to establish a protectorate over Finland as far as the White Sea if she would aid Germany. The offer was refused, whereupon Germany began a policy of interference with tho export of timber. This was the cause .of the conference of tho Kings of Norway, Sweden and Denmark. It is reported that as a result of the conference none of the countries concerned will act separately during the war. THREE KINGDOMS NEUTRAL. “ Times ” and Sydney " Sun " Services. LONDON, Decomber 22. “The Times’s” Copenhagen correspondent says that the Conference of the Scandinavian Kings at Malmo certainly cannot bo regarded as indicating a tendency to favour either belligerent groups. PLOT TO DESTROY FRENCH LINER. GERMANS ARRESTED AT NEW ORLEANS. NEW YORK, December 22. The police at New Orleans arrested five Germans accused of a plot to destroy the French liner Rochambeau. It is alleged* .that the men constructed a bomb with clockwork attachment and consigned it to Franco by parcel post per the Rochambeau. Numbers of French reservists from New York were expected to travel at the same time.
