CHRISTCHTJRCH. ' Wednesday, September 2. (Before Mr Fennor, J.P., and Mr Andrews, J.PO Dbwkenness.—William Vincent, a second offender, was convicted of drunkenness, and a prohibition order was issued against him.—Catherine Forward was fined os for drunkenness and ordered to pay 5s for the repair of a window she had broken. Alleged Theft.—Robert Vescy was charged with the theft of a bicycle valued at £l2, the property of Georgo William Ford. On Mr Donnelly's application he was remanded till Friday. Second-hand Dealers Act.—Harry Bell, a second-hand dealer, was fined 20s for failing to enter up the sale of a pair of trousers. Bt-law Breach.—Leslie Scrimshaw was fined 7s and costs for cycling on the footpath- . A Marshland Case.—Michael Gearschawski (Mr M. Donnelly) charged Joseph Dunick (Mr. Cassidy) with having assaulted him, and each party asked that the other should be bound over to keep the peace. It was stated for Gcarschawski that when he was leaving the Marshland Hall after attending a trooper's send-off Dunick had thrown him to the ground under the pretence of taking a. knife from him. Gearschawski said that he was using the knife to cut tobacco ' at the time. Dunick's case was that Gearschawski at tho send-off bad said that he hoped none of the troopers would return. After the send-off there was a chase, and Gearschawski drew out the knife. Thinking that he was about to attack another man, Dunick had disarmed Gearschawski. After hearing a considerable amount of evidence, tlio Bench dismissed the case, and tho action for sureties of the peace was discontinued.

TEMU.KA. Tuesday, September i (Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M.) Territorial Oases.—A number of charges against Territorials for failing to attend parades were adjourned until December 8. Civil Cases.—Judgment was given by default for plaintiff in each of the following cases:—E. P. Pridham (Mr Aspinall) v. I. Taylor, claim £8 8s; M. Radford v. L. Radford, claim £lO 8s; A. Gabites (Mr lng'is) v. S. Campbell, claim £3 2s od. Costs were added in each case. Judgment Sttmmonses.—A. Gabites (Mr Inglis) applied for an order against F. Fowler on a judgment summons for £3 10s. It was stated that part of the claim had been met and an order was made for payment of the balance (£1 lis), in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Charles Hollands (Mr Aspinall) applied for an order against Wm. Wailcroft on a judgment summons for £l, 12s Od. The Magistrate remarked that ho had very little sympathy with the billiard saloon proprietor who gave, credit for liquor. Ho had no sympathy with men in tho position of defendant. The case would be adjourned till tho loth inst. Evidenco for the defence was given in a case which tho Globe Picture Framing Company, Auckland, sought to recover from C. Bates and Co. tho sum of £lO, tho value of pictures alleged to have been sold by the company to the defendants. Mr F. A. Joynt appeared for plaintiffs and Mr W. G. Aspinall for defendant Evidence for tho plaintiffs will be heard in Auckland. *
