ULIMAROA'S TRANSHIPMENT. The Huddart-Parker Company's intercolonial steamer Ulimaroa, ; due in Lyttelton to-day from Sydney, via Wellington, has a large cargo to land, including transhipments ex the steamers Seidlitz, Prinz Sigismund and Taiyuan. The following is a summary of the cargo for Lyttelton; —1242 bags superphosphates, 70 cases brandy, 74 cases wine, 40 cases tablet sugar, 10 rolls lead, 33 cases sheep-shearingi machinery, 1480 bags rice, 41 crates macaroni, 675 packages tea, 14 drums muriatio acid, 1313 boxes dried fruits, 70 bags rice meal, 12 packages 'Milestone, 667 bags flour, 124 packages.ground bark, 144 ingots zino, and 92 boXes tobacco. SHIPPING- NOTES. ' Advice received from Sydney, states that the N.D.L. liner Seydlitz, which left Sydney rather hurriedly on August 3 last, arrived at Valparaiso. The steamer Coblenz, of the somo line which left Sydney on July 25, and Brisbane two days later, bound for Japan and China, received news of the outbreak of war at Rabaul, German New Gumea. Immediately the vessel reached the place all the passengers were ianded, and the Coblenz left for a neutral portl' On completion of discharge of a portion ot hor London cargo at Auckland the New Zealand Shipping 1 Company's Kaikoura will proceed on to Napier in order to load for west coast of England ports on hehall of the Federal and Shire Line. Other ports to be visited'are Lyttelton, Timaru, Port Chalmers, Bluff and Wellington. Captain Parsons, who for years was the commodore master of the fleet owned by Messrs Lawther Latha. of London, has been succeeded by Captain Pnrslow, of the Anglo Captain Parsons, who is well known in Australasia, has retired from the sea.

Mr R, Darrah, chief officer ■of the Ulimaroa, has temporarily joined the Moornbai in a similar capaciiy, relieving Mr Low, who joined the Ulimarpa. Mr J. Luke, se.coud officer of the Ulimaroa, who has been on holiday leave, has rejoined the vessel. Information received states that the Commonwealth and Dominion liner Whakatua, which loaded wheat at Sydney, arrived at Havre on August 22.

On Sunday last the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Star of Australia sailed from Sydney for Auckland, where she is due to-day. The vessel is enroute from New York, and has cargo on board for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. Yesterday afternoon the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's liner Matatua left Dunedin for Lyttelton, in continuation of discharge of her London cargo. A fairly largo freight is to be landed here and on" completion of discharge the vessel is expected to take up the Homeward-loading berth. After being derived rbmewhat at Wellington the Federal and Shire Company's chartered steamer Invertay left the northern port yesterday morning for Lvttelton. which she i should reach to-day. Tho vessel will probably go to Dunedin about the end of the month.
