SATURDAY'S! SMOKE CONCERT.
FURTHER ARRANGEMENTS
The Entertainment Committee mot yesterday and made further arrangemonts for the smoke concert to the troops on Saturday evening. Mr J. J. Dougall'presided. The Hon W. F. Massey wrote stating that he would not bo able to get away from Wellington to attend the gathering, but would arrange for the Ministry to be. represented. Sir Joseph Ward wrote: —"I will do my best to come down, but cannot state definitely for a dnv or so; I will wire on Thursday or Friday morning." Colonels G. J. Smith and R. A. Chaffey wrote stating that the men would be given leave on Saturday night. Mr W. W. Charters wrote stating that there was a credit balance of £1 3s 6d in connection with the citizens' social to the Territorials, and forwarding a cheque for that sum for the smoke concert fund. Mr S. A. Staples reported that the Decoration Committee nad made suitable arrangements, and Mr D. Jones stated that about 200 flags would be available for decorating the barracks. Captain M'Gee reported that the platform would be placed in the centre of the northern side of the hall. Mr R. D. Vincent stated that the musical programme was almost complete, and that the band belonging to the regiment would be available. It was decided on the motion of Mr E. Nerdon that all who contributed £1 Is or over should be given subscribers' tickets to the concert, but that no complementary tickets should be issued. Mr Nordon stated that those who w,ished to sell tickets could obtain them at his office. Messrs A. 0. Maxwell and A. M. Loasby were added to the committee. YESTERDAY'S DONATIONS. The following further subscriptions have been received towards the " Sendoff" to be tendered.to the Canterbury Contingent at the King Edward Barracks on Saturday evening:—

Tho concert will commence at 7.30 which will bo played by the Woolston p.m. with the National Anthem. Band. Tho Christchurch LiedertaM will then sing "Rule Britannia," after which speeches, interspersed with musical items, will bo given by the Mayor, Sir Joseph Ward and Mr J. J. Dougall. Songs will bo sung by Messrs R; D. Vincont, A. Millar and T. Charters. During the evening tho flag which was bought by Mr Harry Lauder on Saturday night, and which has since been re-purchased from him for 200 guineas, subscribed by a number or citizons, will be presented to Colonel Chaffey, officer commanding tho Canterbury district. A meeting of the committeo will be held to-morrow in the City Council Chambers at 12.30 p.m.
