NOTES FROM LONDON.
NEW ZEALANDERS IN THE METROPOLIS. [From Our Correspondent.] LONDON, June 12. Mr Edward O'Rourke, of Christchurch, who has come over here on a pleasure trip, loft last week on a visit to Ireland. Ho will roturn to this country in August. Mr C. Reid, of Christchurch, who has come over to En&land on a pleasure trip, is at present staying nt Brown's Hotel, Dover Street. He will be here until December. Mr "William Armstrong, of Christchurch, has, since his arrival at the beginning of the month, paid visits to friends and relatives in Northampton, Maidstone and Stratford. He left on Monday for Belfast, and returns to London in time to spend a fortnight with friends before ieaving for New Zealand on August 30.
Among the overseas journalists at present in the Old Country who were the guests of the Empire Press tlnion nt a luncheon at De Keyser's Hotel. London, last Tuesday, were Mr T. W. Leys, of the " Auckland Star," and Mr F. H. Dawn, of tho " Lyttelton Times." Tho Hon Harry Lawson, chairman of the Council of the Union, presided, and among those who responded to his toast of "Our Guests" was Mr Leys. Mr and Mrs William Broughton, of Canterbury, with their two sons, Spencer and Keith, who arrived here on Juno 1 via Capo Horn, intend re-1 maining in London for a few weeks beforo motoring through England and Scotland and attending tho Keswicir Convention in July. Later they hope to spend a few weeks on the Continent before joining the Orvieto at Naples on October 31 on their return to New Zealand.
Tho Rev and Mrs S. Griffith and their daughter, Miss Gladys Griffith, of Christchurch, who arrived in London by the Orsova on May 23, will leave next week for a short tour on tho Continent, returning in time to attend the Wesleyan Methodist Conference at Leeds. After the Conference they • purpose visiting Scotland, the English Lakes, Cornwall and. Devonshire. They will leave London on November 20, but they may visit Italy, and possibly Jerusalem, prior to joining tho Otway at Naples. Miss Griffith hopes to attend tho Students' Christian Union Conference at Swannick, which commences on July 23. Callers at tho High .Commissioner's Offices this week included:—Mi-s H. F.
