COAL AND BLANKET FUND.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Tfc has recently come under my notice where some families have been receiving the coal from the Coal and Blanket Fund who should not, as tho husband is loafing at the hotels and about town all day, and it is not fair, that the money given to this eharitablo object should bo given to this class of people. This party in particular have a large garden, but the father or cbildren never dig it or trouble themselves to grow a vegetable, and the wife, who could do washing or cleaning, makes no attempt to help in any way. There arc a. few such cases—not very many—but 1 hope the people authorised to distribute this coal will not encourage this class any further, as the Coal and Blanket Fund is for the deserving poor, not for the drunkards. —I am. etc., E. ALLAN.
Sydenham, July 17. P.S.—Names of the parties referred to can be given if required.—E.A.
