PRESENTATIONS.
Mr G. Shipley (who has been actively connected with tlie nolicense movement in the Marlborough district for the past thre< rears) and Mrs Shipley were farewel* .led by a gathering of members of tha local branch of the No-license League at Blenheim on Friday, prior to their departure for Kaiapoi, where Mr Shipley has acquired a sheep run. Mr 0. W. Parker presided. In recognition of Mr Shipley’s splendid services tt president of the League for three years, states the “Express,” Sir J. 0. Logan presented him until several volumes, and referred in terms of appreciation to his keen practical interest in that movement. Sirs B. H. Low, tlie Revs W. O. Robb, and B. F. Rothwell, and Messrs G. Cibson, W. D. Sanders, and W. " ■ ry also spoke in eulogy cf Sir ’Shipley’s' personal worth’ ancf lively interest'in the cause. Sir Shipley acknowledged the gifts in an appropriate speech. On Wednesday afternoon Sir T. H. Hughes, of the Bank of Australasia, nho has been transferred to Gore, was presented by* liis fellow-wqrkers with a travelling bag. Tlie officers of the Christchurch Chief Post Office assembled in the mail room on Saturday to bid farewell to Slessr* Mayer, Shelton aud Shanks, who liave been members of the staff for many years, and who have been transferred to other centres on promotion. They were the recipients of tangible tokens of the goodwill in which they were held by their fellow-workers. Mr Morris, the Chief Postmaster, in making tho presentations, referred in very eulogistic terms to each departing officer.
