AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

The c6mmit.tee of the Canterbury Automobile Association met last night; oresent—Dr Simpson (chairman) and Messrs F. AY. Johnston, A. Morten, A. Clarb-son, D. Oroz’ef. R. English, AY. E. Mills and AA r . Broadway.

After a good deal of discussion the timo limits suggested by a committee of the City Council as standing time for motors were agreed to. After considering a road map submitted by a firm of Christchurch publishers, it was decided that the map was useless, and a sub-committeo was appointed to consider the issue of a proper map. The Beef ton Chamber of Commerce wrote asking for support in the matter of a road from North Canterbury to Maruia. It was decided to assist in the matter on receipt of further particulars.

It was agreed to supply signboards to the Malvern County Council as requested. Dr Simpson and Messrs Morten, Johnston and Mills were appointed delegates to the annual meeting of the New. Zealand Motor Union.

At the request of Mr Norton Francis it was agreed to convene a meeting of the provincial union for Juno 11 to consider the question of membership of the New Zealand Union. . The South Canterbury Association forwarded a petition for the widening of the stock bridge adjoining the Rangitata railway bridge. It was agreed to support the proposal, and the signatures of the committee were added to the petition.
