—+—. FIRE AT OTAKI HOSPITAL. [Per Phwbr 's^thtion'.] WELLINGTON, June 8. A fire at Otaki Hospital this afternoon resulted in the destruction of a five-roomed annexe to the main building. It comprised the porters' . and maids' rooms and storerooms, _and lay on the eastern side of the main building, thus sheltered from the westerly wind blowing. The porter is said to have gone out. leaving a small five in tho grate, the sparks from which apparently ign ,- tod the woodwork. A patient not'ed the smoke and gave the alarm, and Dr Buthwaite organised a bucket briffiulo. which managed, by the ose of wet blankets, to prevent the fire spending to the main building, tho wall of which was scorched.
