—+—. FIRE AT OTAKI HOSPITAL. [Per Phwbr 's^thtion'.] WELLINGTON, June 8. A fire at Otaki Hospital this afternoon resulted in the destruction of a five-roomed annexe to the main building. It comprised the porters' . and maids' rooms and storerooms, _and lay on the eastern side of the main building, thus sheltered from the westerly wind blowing. The porter is said to have gone out. leaving a small five in tho grate, the sparks from which apparently ign ,- tod the woodwork. A patient not'ed the smoke and gave the alarm, and Dr Buthwaite organised a bucket briffiulo. which managed, by the ose of wet blankets, to prevent the fire spending to the main building, tho wall of which was scorched. The annexe was burned to the ground. Tli" lv'ticnt.s in tho hospital wore got ready for ''owovnl, but i* was not necessary to f,b'f+ thorn.
