WINTER SHOW.

OTAGO A. AND P. SOCIETY. [From Our Coerespondent.] DUNEDIN, Juno 3

There was a break in. the weather last night, when heavy rain fell. Today it has been unmistakably wintry, being cold and wet and generally miserable, but the attendance at the Otago Show was not prejudiced to any serious • extent. The business of the day was the judging of the fat stock, of which there was a good average display. Contrary to the usual practice and the programme requirements, the exhibitors wore asked to pen their stock last night. This created some dissatisfaction amongst northern exhibitors, and this became more marked when it was learned that the request had not been complied with by a number of southerners.

Fat cattle were not numerous, but the quality was good. Mr A. J. Keith, of Ashburton, provided tho winner in the class for bullocks of any ago, but nil the'remaining animals came from Otago farms. The winners of the chief prizes were:—Mr R. T. Kirk (Mosgiel). Mr J. Sutherland (Allanton), Mr G. A. Graham (Berwick) and Mr "W. Waddell (Waikaka Valley). Sheep were not so largely shown as in former years, Canterbury grazier; being less formidably represented. Mj F. Bull, of Waddingtou, was the mos,.' successful .of. the exhibitors from the sister province! He- took first and f.eepnd,;prizes-.. for .cross-bred" Down wethers, first for cross-bred Down wethers not exceeding 22 months and first and second for crossbred Down hoggets.
