ELECTRIC WIRES.
TO THE EUITOB. \ Si rj —May I ask through the medium J of your valuable paper why the electrical wires for lighting purposes (at least in the St Albans district) arc being hung on the arm that projects over the footpath, while the arm overhang- i ing the road carries nothing, thus un« . necessarily leaving the poor pedestrian | to walk in danger, should there happen ■. to be a flaw in any of theni? : .AVehave seen an account published quite recently of a poor lad in the North Island'being electrocuted by "a. 'broken wire. Hence my reason for drawing the Council's attention to this matter. It is only a matter of time, and all cables will have to be put. . under ground. I have noticed at some of the city corners that the poles' are. so ' heavily' laden with, wire that they.have I a bend of four or five inches, and have to be held up by a strainihg-post.< The place will look, when all: private residences are connected, like one huges-net work. Surely, at least,, these, can be taken in underneath.' even, if -.at" a j little extra■ expense.—l am,, etc;, ■:■.-,'. CITIZEN:
