MR MASSEY'S MEETING.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, : —I noto_ that S. Kingsford is anxiously inquiring about admission to Mr Masscy's meeting on Friday night, and asks a few questions. I would like it to bo clearly understood that Ihore will bo no tickets issued for Mr Massey's meeting except for the platform. With reference to the police, that is a matter entirely for the Superintendent of Police, and doubtless if Mr Kingsford would wait on him he would be glad of his assistance in estimating the amount of row that would ■be created. Mr Kingsford says further ". An honest answer will save a lot of trouble as all Mr Massey's opponents will stay away, thus obviating the necessity for the employment of police specials and otherwise." Permit me to thank him for the very graceful tribute he pays to Mr Massey's supporters, and heing one evidently with inside knowledge, his judgment is entitled to consideration when he infers that all the lawless and those in need of the police are on his side of politics. Recent events have proved the correctness of his inference. Trusting that this will satisfy his inquiries, and extending to him a cordial invitation to the meeting.—l am, etc., DAVID JONES. Ohristchurch, June 2.
