FIRE AT LAKE WANAKA. rp ER Press Association.] DUNEDIN, June 1. Advice from Pembroke states that Mr P. R. Sargood’s fine homestead on the shores of Lake Wa-uaka was completely destroyed by , fire early this morning, only a few pieces of furnituie being saved.
PETONE BUILDINGS BURNED. rp EK Press Association.] WELLINGTON. June 1. A two-storey shop and dwelling at Petone, occupied Hv Mr August as a fruit shop, was badly damaged by fire last evening. The brigade effected a wood save in the face of a strong northerly wind. The building is insured in' the State Office for £6OO, and the furniture and stock for £IOO m the Queensland Office. Early this morning a boarding-house in Petone, occupied by Mrs Wilson, was gutted. The building was insured for £175 in the State Office, and the furniture for £l5O in the Commercial Union.
FIRE IN GORE. TPer Press Association.] GORE, June 1. K seven-roomed house in West Gore, owned bv Mr David Lyttle, and occupied by 'Mr IV. Adcock, was destroyed bv fire early on Sunday morning. The bouse was insured for £3OO in the Victoria Comnahv, and the furniture for £IOO in the Northern Company.
