The market is dull, and prices are unchanged. WHEAT. The wheat market is steady and quiet. A cargo of Australian wheat has been sold at 37s lid. Holders ask 37s fid off coast. Tho quantity of wheat and flour' afloat for the United Kingdom amounts to 3,030,000 quarters, and for the Continent to 500,000 quarters. Atlantic shipments total 2,•160.000 quarters. There has been more inclination to purchase mutton during the past week. Canterbury light-weight 4§d. There is a hotter demand for heavy-weight at 3gd. North Island is quoted at 4 13-16 d for light-weight. Lamb. —The market is very firm, with a better demand for heavy-weight on account of the high mice's of English mutton. Canterbury iamb, twos, 6gd, heavy weights 6|d,. other than Canterbury fijd for lightweight. Beef. —Tho market is quiet, with no alteration in prices. New Zealand hinds 4Jd, fores 3£d. Chilled beef is in moderate supply; hinds s]d, fores 3Jd. Butter. —Tho market is steady. Danish is quiet; 113 s to 115 s, exceptionally choico 116 s. New Zealand is firmer; 107 s to 108 s, exceptionally choico 110 s. Australian 100 sto 104 s. Siberian is in moderate supply; 98s to 102 s. Irish creamery is slow; 105 sto 108 s. Cheese.—The market is firm, with an upward tendency. The Ross Goldfields mine superintendent reports under date May 28 for tho previous week’s work : “Sixth levoi workings—No. 6 south has been extended to 36 feet from the lino of No. 2 east; wash payable. No. 2 east has been extended to 64 feet from No. 5 south; wash of medium quality. No. 5 south has been driven to 108 feet from opening. Wash poorer in last few sots. No. 4 south has been driven to further distance of 12 feet and is now 52 feet from the opening. Tho wash in this drive though nice-looking is of low quality. One party is blocking in No. 2 south, one partv in No. 3 south and one in No- 5 south. These faces are in wash of fair quality.”
