FORGED NOTES.
AN ARREST IN SYDNEY.

Since the forgery of bank notes was reported from Auckland the police have kept a sharp look out on all vessels from the dominion, but failed to spot any suspects arriving. The movements of a foreigner, however, aroused suspicion ancl he was closely watched. To-night a strong force of detectives paid a surprise visit to a lodging-house at Redfern and arrested a foreigner while lie was at dinner. Search of his room was made and tho police discovered a complete plant for printing bank notes, including a press, printer’s ink, valuable lenses, prepared plates for etching and a one pound National bank note, while under the pillow was a fully loaded automatic pistol.
