On Saturday afternoon and evening tho current programme at the Colosseum was shown for tho last time. Tonight's special feature will be " Threads of Destiny," described as a play of much power. The plot deals with the story of a millionaire, who, wishing to test' the worthiness of his heirs, concealed himself in a mansion and caused a false report' to be bruited abroad that ho is dead. The subsequent happenings and episodes furnish the main part or the play. Other subjects will bo "Picturesque Greece," "The Elusive Diamond," " How Flowers Awaken," ''Stage-door Flirtation," the latest "Gaumont Graphic" and "The Tale of a Cat" (comedy).

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.

A thrilling and dramatic, film will bo submitted at His Majesty's Theatre to-night in "The Forest Dwellers," which will head tho new programme. It is a story of a great legacy and an unequal fight for a fortune, and introduces capitalistic and labour troubles. A fine coloured scenic shows "Tho Roman Campagne " and another scenic, "In Dauphiny," is of an educational travel series. "Tho Canine Hero" is a wonderful animal star play, featuring the marvellous sagacity and courage of a beautiful dog. A pretty story with a simple straightforward plot is a dramatic item entitled "The Ring," and the latest "Path© Gazette" furnishes illustrated world's news of topical interest. Tho programme will be completed by the comedies entitled "The Schemers" and "Taming Terrible Ted." There will bo a matinee on Wednesday afternoon at 2.30.

GLOBE CONTINUOUS PICTURES. The currency of the half-weekly programme at the Globe Theatre having expired on Saturday, a new set of films will be introduced to-day and will include "The Path of Genius," "Tho Tollgate Haiders," "The Slumbaville Scar," "The Tango Tangle," "A Stern Papa" and tho "Warwick Chronicle."

QUEEN'S THEATRE. Tho programme at the Queen's Theatre was shown at tho usual sessions on Saturday. The same films will be shown to-day. » SYDENHAM PICTURES. The current programme was shown to large audiences at both matinee and night performances at the Svdcnham Picture's on Saturday. To-night there will be a complete change, including the Cine Company's great success. "The Forest Dwellers." "The Patho Gazette" (topical). "The Ring" (drama), "The Schemers" (Vita comedv), " The, Canine Hero " (drama), "In Dauphiny," "A Glance at the Roman Camoagne" (scenic) and "Taming Terriblo Tod" (comic). i OLYMPTA RINK. Pinking was indulged in on Saturday afternoon and evening, and the attendances reflected tho popularity of the pastime. To-day the Olympia Rink will bo open again as usual.

GRAND THEATRE. Excellent patronage was accorded tho Grand Theatre on Saturday, and at times the crowd was so large as to extend on to the roadway, all watting their turn to bo admitted as opportunity afforded. To-day is the " birthday of the Theatre, and to commemorate tho occasion a specially, good programme will be shown. The principal picture is entitled "A Throno at Stake," and tho acting, photography and setting aro stated to bo or tho finest description. A varied sorhsof supporting pictures will be shown, including "Tho Missing Bonds" (drama), "Gloves of Ftames" and "Tho Birthday That Mattered" (comedies), " I lie Kauri Timber Industry,"- and tho latest number of tho popular "Eclair Jiurnal." depicting the world's latest happenings and the latest iadies' fashions.

OPERA HOUSE. A very largo and enthusiastic audience witnessed the last night of the vaudeville programmo at tho Opera House on Saturday night and the members of tho company were accorded_ a splendid reception. To-night a special and diversifi'od programmo will bo presented including tho special starring engagement of Josephine Gassman and her I'iccaninies, said to be one of the finest vaudeville singing and dancing acts ever presented, and the special engagement and first appearance of Ray Lawrence in "Just an American Girl,'' an ontirelv new and novol act. There will bo also the presentation by the popular comedian, Dennis Carney, and stock company of the- laughable comedy sketch "The Other Fellow"; and he will be supported by the. favourite artists Phillips and Merritt, American entertainers and Tangoists, leatnruig tho latest ball-room craze and new specialties; Carlton Mas, English ventriloquist; Herr Ernst Franz, pmnologuist: Jolly Marie, English comedienno in new impersonations; Dennis Carney, in his latest song successes; and Knowlcs and Lee, the popular comediennes. On Tuesday and Thursday tho two great Tango competitions will take place when twenty-four couples of expert Tangoists will compete. Box plans now open at Mihier and Thompson's

ORGAN RECITAL. Mr Arthur Lilly, A.R.C.0., assisted by Miss Ruby Spratt and Mr W. J. S'pratt (vocalists), will give an organ recital at Wesley Church, East Belt, on Thursday evening, in aid of church funds.

• THE GEORGE WILLOUGHBY NEW DRAMATIC COMPANY. . '•Undo Tom's Cabin" in a musical melodramatic sotting will bo the initial production at the Theatre Royal at eight o'clock this evening by Messrs George Willoughby's New Dramatic Company. The drama ef pure emotions and heart interest, an up-to-date dramatisation of Mrs Harriet Beech* Stove's famous moral and religious work by Beva Elyarts, is well known to playgoers, bub although the time-hon-oured ingredients are not lacking the dramatic dish will bo flavoured differently to its orodecessors,. seasoned as it is with bright vaudeville items. The cast is an exceptionally strong one, and will bo interpreted by a coterie of artists headed by. Mr Oyiil Mackay and Miss Nellie Fergussou. The scenery is said to bo on i:\ unsurpassed scalo and includes a picturesque setting especially in tho gr>at waterfall scone in which, aided by unique effects dspicting moonlight, a huge sheet of real water falls from tho cliffs to rocks below. Tho mechanical devices, limelight, and electric effects and intricate properties are also said to be excellent. Advantage has been taken bv tho producer, Mr Lester Brown, "of New York, of the opportunities offered for tho introduction of vocal effects and a feature of the presentment will be the Era Comedy Four, the National Duo and tho New York Jubilee. Singers in songs, dances, ragtime specialties, sacred melodies and plantation interludes. Tho box plan is open at tho Dresden. Another piece to bo staged during the season will bo "Tho Bad Girl of tho Family." On King's Birthday a matinee will be given.
