FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIPS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. PARIS, May 28. In the final of the golf championship, Ouimet (America) boat Topping (Eng« land), 4 up and 3 to play. Ouimet outclassed Topping. He drove a long ball throughout, but his approaches and putting were sometimes faulty.
MEN VERSUS WOMEN. Two very interesting matches were played at Shirley on Thursday between some of the men and women players of the Christchurch Club. Singles were played, in the morning and four ball matches in the afternoon. The games were on a handicap basis, the stronger sex giving away short handicaps in most cases, and each playing "from their own tees. Victory went to the men in each instance. They won by ten games to four in the singles and five games to three hi the four ball matches. Detailed results are as follow:

The ladies of the Richmond Hill Golf Club played the second bogey match of the season on Thursday. Tho following were the best scores:—Mrs White-Parsons, 2 down; Mrs Fisher, 2 down; Mrs Stevens, 4 down; Mrs Lawrence, 4 down. In. the play-off for the monthly medals Mrs Fisher beat Miss Pender. CHRISTCHURCH CLUB. The Christchurch Golf Club will play th» Wardrop cleek mixed foursome match this afternoon. The following players will journey to Dunedin to contest the Hosldng Campbell Challenge Shield, tho Hanmer Shield and the Orbell Cup:—Messrs B. B. Wood, H. B. Wright, H. R. Brittan, B. C. Rutherford, W. A. Humphreys, E. Maofarlane, C H. Hewlett and S. K. Sleigh. The matohoa will be played on June 4 and 5.
On June 3 the club will play Ashburtoi at Ohristchurch, and a team will leave or June 2 to play against Timaru, at Timaru
