SWIMMING.

LYTTELTON CLUB

In the Lytteiton Club Hall on Friday evening the Lytteiton Gymnasium Club held a social gathering to celebrate tho conclusion of the season. The first part of tho evening was taken up by a progressive euchre tournament, in which Miss 31. Harriss and Mr A. Murray gained first place, whilst Miss Brown and Mr B. Rhind secured "booby" honours. After supper Mr E. R. Curtis presented . the prizes to the successful competitors, and in doing so referred to the success which had attended' the past season's efforts. Mention was made of the lo.ss the club had suffered in tho death of the president, Mr G. Laurenson.

Tho following are the results of the past season's races :- —50yds (November 19) —M. Brown and J. Toomey (dead heat. 7ovds Breast Stroke (January 30)—D. M'Kenzie 1, H. Harris 2. oOvds (February 2)—L. Derbidge 1. B. Toomey 2. 100yds (February 13)—H. Harris 1, W. Brown 2. 25ydfe (February 16) —B. Toomey and J. Toomey (dead heat). 7ovds (February 27) H. Harris 1, H, Newton 2. 50yds (March 2)—E. Brown 1, B. Toomey 2. An enjoyable dance, with music supplied by Mr L. Cusworth, concluded the- gathering at .**
