PARISH MEETINGS.
NEW BRIGHTON BEACH CHURCH. The annual mooting of parishioners in connection with tho New Brighton Beach Church was held on Thursday evening in the schoolroom. The vicar, tho Rev H. H. Mathias, presided, and sixty-eight parishioners were present. The annual balance-sheet was read and adopted. The wardens’ report shewed that there had been an increase during the year in tho number of communicants, .and the church attendance, especially at the early services, had been well maintained. The branch of the Girls’ Friendly Society and tho Mothers’ Union, both of which have been established since Mr Mathias has taken over the parish, showed a good members!] ip, and keen interest was taken in the work.
Mr It.. Bargrovc, was re-appointed vicar’s warden and the following, officers were elected; —Parishioners’ warden, Mr C. H. Winny ; vestrymen, Messrs Miles, Sendall, Bishop, Aires, Sproson, Blakoway, Lyon, Moore, Langford, Archbold and Hawker. Mr C. H. Winny’s report on the recent sale of work held on tho pier stated that after liquidating tho debt of £llß on the vicarage there remained a credit balance of £2l, which it was decided to transfer to tho new church fund. . Votes of thanks were accorded the retiring officers for their good work during tho year and to the ladies for pro-, viding refreshments during the evening. TAI TAPU. The congregation of St Paul’s Anglican Chimin was unfortunate in having a very rough evening for the annual meeting in tho Public Hall, but there was a good gathering of parishioners. The report and balance-sheet showed that things had greatly improved during tho year. A debit balance of ±-20 had been changed into a credit balance of £5 10s 3d. Tho vicar, the liov F. B. Redgrave, stated that a Sunday school was being started, beginning with a roll of about twenty, children. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Bishop's warden, My George Witte; people’s warden, Mr J. Willan; vestry, Messrs H. Arnst, I. Champion, A. H. Davis, Stan bun-, E. Witte and Hon It. H. Rhodes. A motion was unanimously passed in favour of the Bible in Schools League. A social gathering was held after the meeting.
