Miss Violet Schmitz obtained, before the King’s Bench Division, £SOO damages against tbe publishers of “ Modern Life” for undefined libel. The paper, referring to tbe dress worn by Miss Schmitz at the Dance Club at Brighton, said: “ Its absolute transparency left little to tho imagination. It was a bit of a scream. The more modestly-minded guests literally held their breath.” Miss Schmitz gave evidence that the dress was made by her usual dressmaker, under her mother’s superintendence. NOT A CLASS SUBJECT.
